I have successfully bred piranhas for months now. The problem i have is that almost all of the babies die at a young age. When i see them in the rocks at the bottom, i turn off the filter so that they'll come to the top. I scoop them out and put them in a 5 gallon tank with an air pump and a heater. I feed them baby brine shrimp, but i only end out with one alive if i'm lucky. Can anybody help me? IP: Logged |

I've never bred Piranhas but the major cause for newborn deaths is fungus. My best recommendation: dose the newborn tank with Methalyn Blue and only feed them HALF of what you think they will eat at one time but do it 4 to 5 times a day. Make sure the water stays clean. Hope this works for you I want to hear a successful report. IP: Logged |

Thanks. I'll give it a try next time they breed (which will be in about a week) and I'll let you know what happened... ------------------ IP: Logged |
