Hello I am getting a new tank and I have no clue how I want to set it up so I was wondering if anybody out there has a picture of anytanks if you can sent the pic to me here or to my email adress at stone_6_9@hotmail.com. Also I was wondering how often I should do a full water change and rock cleaning for my 33 gallon piranha aquarium please up thank you. IP: Logged |

For what it's worth. Besides my normal routine maintainence every 6 months I remove all of the plants and rocks and clean them. While they are out of the tank I stir up the gravel and run an outside diatom filter. I repeat this step several times until the water is clear when I stir up the gravel. I then do a 50% water change and use Novaqua to buffer the PH and remove chlorine. I also follow this procedure whenever I am having a bacterial problem. I NEVER change 100% of the water unless I am having a bacterial problem that can't be controlled any other way. Remember when you change 100% of the water your tank will recycle, more than likely causing the loss of some fish. By the way I'm no expert either. about once a month i clean the gravel using a gravel vacuum doing every inch of of the tank, doing a 25% chage at the same time. then out in some stress coat when i add the new water IP: Logged |
