As some of you know I have been having some trouble with my ph being to high. Well I went to the pet store and got some stuff to bring it down so I used it and done a 20% water change. My ph droped down to 7.0 and stayed there for about 24 hours but then shot right back up to 7.6. What could be makin my ph shoot up so fast. Any help would be great. IP: Logged |

If you dosed the tank for PH and then did a 20% water change in that order like you described you have answered your question. Your tap water has a high PH. Don't get overly concerned with PH. Just do a 20% water change once a week and use a PH buffer when you change your water or add new fish. Your fishes waste (which you will never get completely out) will bring down the PH naturally without a drastic change in PH at one time which is extremely hard on your fish and could cause them to go into PH shock if the water is not buffered. Just follow good cleaning and maintenance guidelines and your fish will be happy and healthy without setting up a chemical tank that is impossible to keep balanced! Remember this, if you go into a shop with 100 different tanks with all of them having a different filter and they all get cleaned and a 20% water change once a week, you will not find a perfect match in the water between any 2 of those 100 tanks.
