I have 3 piranhas in a 33 gallon tank. The trick to get them to breed is to raise the temperature (approx 83-88 degrees) and to lower the water lever (about as low as you can go before the filter stops sucking in). if they're breeding, the males will go almost pitch black, and the breeding male will protect the next night and day. before the eggs are laid, the female will go face down towards the rocks and she'll blow to create a small nest. You can do this yourself if you want. You'll know when the babies are hatched by looking VERY closely in the rocks at the side of the tank. The are miniscule and all you'll really see is a pair of eyes. After a few days of them being in the rocks, turn off the filter for a few hours and they will come to the top of the tank. Any more questions, michelinesbury@hotmail.com
