I dont rince it very often.
The guy at the pet store told me that as long an water is flowing through it good then its fine. He also said to keep an eye on it where the tube comes over the top of the filter and make sure that ALL the water is going through the filters.

You might want to get a 2nd opinion on it though because I dont know how trustworthy the pet store guy is.

I currently have 3 tanks going. 2- 55 Gallons & a 100 gallon and use a Millenium 3000 on each of them. I have had NOTHING but good results from the millenium 3000. As for cleaning it, that depends on how many fish, size of aquarium & if you have any debris in your tank that can or will be kicked up by the fish (dirt substrates for plants or anything that loses pieces that float around in the tank). I have my 100 gallon setup with tons of all live plants with mossy rocks i pulled from high altitude streams so there is alot of floating debris when my plec is eating the moss and even with all the debris he can generate, i still only clean the filters on the millenium about every 3 weeks. All it takes to clean it is a sink sprayer to rinse the debris from the filter and i only change the filters every couple of months and they work great. The millenium is easy to do a complete cleaning on as well. ALOT easier than most filters i have used in the past. It's rated for a max tank size of 100 gallons and for the money, you won't find a better filter anywhere. you can often find them on the web for under $30.00 + shipping costs.

Ive been running the millenium 3000 for 3 months now and i am REALLY happy with it!

it keeps the tank crystal clear, its running with a aquaclear 300, with two running i dont have to rinse the filters as often, together the filter 600 GPH.
I would recomend it to anyone
