Hello everyone! I have two oscars, one whos named Bob Dole who is three years old, and Tony Blair who is approx 6 months -named those names because he somehow looks like bob dole, and we decided it was a political tank now. : ) anyway, i wanted to know if any other oscar owners here have notice some interesting oscar socail behavior. Bob Dole, when swimming near Tony Blair, he some how vibrates his caudal fin (back fin). Its very interesting, does anyone know what this means? Some times, Tony, will vibrate his tail back at Bob. Also, they will do this "kissing" behavior, they will swim face to face and open their mouths and come closer together, or touch then close their mouths are repeat. Anyone know what this also means? Very interesting... i would love to find out what their communication means! Thanks IP: Logged |

i use to have 2 very large oscars and they did the same thing i thought it was a mating thing but it wasn't. they were fighting.oscars are aggressive fish and sometimes get into a battle over who's the boss.but don't worry they won't kill eachother they will just battle every once in awhile IP: Logged |

I just got a new Oscar and they are displying the same behavior. I had it happen before I think it may be an ajustment periodor your tank may be to small for them to get along comftably IP: Logged |
