I realize this is an old post but I could not help but to dig it out. First of all I'm no expert on salt water my main advice is to get a book Thats what I did that way you don't have to rely on advice from me or someone like me. All the info you need would not fit in a post. Lighting is very important (two kinds of light) also filtration (two kinds) and the most important is patience. On average it could take 18 to 25 weeks to have the water set up perfect for most marine fish. you have to start slow with live rocks, coral and creastations. The biggest mistake people make is to rush out and buy the pretty marine fish right after they set up. It tkes longer to cycle and is delicate after you start to add life it goes through a second cycle if you will. Buy a book, read it well then hurry up and wait when your done waiting wait some more.
