if you like to watch your fish grow, then i would go with the oscars, they get quite big and will get along well with the pacu

RachelB that post is 5 months old, i lost my pacus to a power outage, i was deeply depressed i raised them to 11 and 12 inch.

now i have a albino oscar who is 3 inch and he shares the tank with a green terror who is 5 inch.
they are great i love oscars they are more like dogs than fish.

Sorry to hear about your pacus, i'm worried about something like that myself, living in oklahoma we get ice storms that can knock the power out for days, and i would hate to lose my babies...i have 2 oscars and a jack dempsey in my main tank, and i agree they are like dogs, the bigger of the two oscars (bubba) has taken to jumping at our hands when it is feeding time, which was somewhat frightening at first, but is now very cute.
