I am thinking of getting some african cichlids. Probably 3-4 colorful males. Not really interested in breeding and all that goes with coupling at this point. can anyone recommend some that are compatible with each other? Also, I read you can mix these with rainbowfish. I'm assuming as long as they are similar size?

my brother has 7 cichlids in his tank, they dont bother hi pleco, but he did put in an algea eater of some kind and the picked it apart.
there was bout a week were he just experimented with what he could put in, mollys, clown loach, angel fish, silver tips, all didnt make it.
Green terror, convict and jack dempsey all got along.I myself would just put cichlids with cichlids
