Regular Oscars are black and grey, Tiger Oscars are black with red markings mottled in between black markings on the side, Red Oscars are black with the sides completely Orange or Red. Then you have the Albino strain which are white instead of black that follow the same patterns as above. Although in the Albino strain all that I have seen are Albino Tiger Oscars. Hope this helps. oscars eat scrap peices of meat like sandwich meat n stuff, they also like ckrickets, feeders, worms, blood worms, i feed mine staple food tablets, or you can getlittle floaty tablets for oscars, but dont feed them too many feeders 'cause they can cause all sorts of diseases. i give them to mine like once a month. Do NOT give oscars meats like beef, pork, and chicken. They are much to fatty and cannot be properly digested by fish. Also, do NOT give your oscar feeders. If they're from a store, they are full of diseases. Oscars also are not capable of properly digesting fish so they provide very little nutritional value and can cause intestinal blockages that could kill the oscar. The best diet for osars is a good quality pelleted food like Hikari Staple or Gold, New Life Spectrum, and HBH Oscar Show. As occasional treats, you can feed them a wide variety of insects (avoid things like spiders and insects that could have pesticides on them), earthworms, mealworms, and shrimp. -Chelle IP: Logged |
