I bought what I thought was a Pacu last year. He is now 15 inches and has teeth. He lives with a Oscar, but has become quite aggressive. Could this be a Piranha or just an "out of character" Pacu? IP: Logged |

What's out of character? Sounds like a red-bellied Pacu to me. If he seems more aggresive than the normal red-bellied Pacu, he was probably shipped from the wild rather than raised in a Florida hatchery. IP: Logged |

The pacu will be a grey color. The pirhana will have silvery speckles almost like glitter. Pacu can be agressive. [This message has been edited by Hooben (edited 06-12-2003).] IP: Logged |

Pacu get to be 50+ cm if kept in a big enough tank. if he grows anymore u know its not a piranha. especially if its onyl been a year, my P's only grew to about 8" in a year. IP: Logged |

Simple, if your oscar is still alive it's a pacu.(probably a red belly) IP: Logged |

your oscars still being alive really has nothing to do with it, i don't know much about piranah, but i have know people to have oscars and other aggressive fish in with there's and i have read that piranahs are docile except when feeding and spawning, but every fish has it's own personality so you never know IP: Logged |
