The only fish I have is a chinese fighting fish. My sis-in-law got one for her b-day last year August and I saw her last week and asked about it and she said it died. She said it was old. I am not buying that. Someone gave it as a gift to her. This is why pets of any kind should not be givien as gifts. Someone needs to want it. Mine is about a year old and he looks great. How old do they live. I know not a long time but I want to know. IP: Logged |

Knock on wood I have had my betta for almost 3 years now. If given the right food and tank size they can live for a while! I have known people that have had theirs die in a year or two, but that's mainly because they were kept in a betta bowl, fed when the owners thought of it, and cleaned once a month. So it really depends on the owner and how dedicated they are. IP: Logged |

Most bettas in a bowl will die after a year or two. I have never heard of a betta living more than 3 years. IP: Logged |

OOps I am sorry, I know I had heard siamese before but at that moment forgot. Mine is in a one gallon bowl, hers was 1/2 gallon I believe. My sis-in-law may have done something accidental, because she is one person that loves animals and anything in the wild, plants included. Is bloodworms and Betta boi-gold suffient food for them. I feed mine twice a day. For a fish I would say he gets plenty of stimuli, watching us all walk by or mess around with him. Not anything bad. What do you say about putting living plants in the bowl, not just the regualar fish tank plants. I know there are many people out there that think betas don't need food and that they will eat the roots. Thats a bunch of malarchy. I read up on how to take care of them and it basically told me different amounts to feed and when. What would you say is the right feeding regime. IP: Logged |

run2 bettas = R(are) U(you) N(in) 2(to) bettas. And I was wondering my fish (betta) only eats bloodworms now. When I give him pellets he bloats and floats on his side. Is this ok? IP: Logged |
