COOOL, my dempsey is JUST LIKE YOURS, dempseys are highly territorial and they like to dig holes either they lay their eggs on the clean glass, but usually they just love to dig. IP: Logged |

I once had a cichlid w/ a piranha i do not know what type the cichlid was but it was real aggressive and it bullied my prianha and almost killed it I was shocked thinking that it would have been the other way around [This message has been edited by FishKid (edited 03-25-2003).] IP: Logged |

Piranhas are very docile until it come to breeding and eating. I've found that piranhas should only be put in with other piranhas. IP: Logged |

You have to put your jack dempsy in the tank with other fish at the same time. Otherwise your jack will have already staked out it's terratory and will attack other fish that enter it. If you put the fish in at the same time they will all claim terratory. If you take your fish out and rearange the tank and then put it back in with other fish this may help. Plus you must have a larger tank +40 gallons if you want your dempsy to share with any other fish. As far as the diging jacks will often lay eggs on smooth surfaces but if it's alone then that is probably not why it's digging. It is probably just trying to create a habitat for itself. Make sure you have large rocks or clay pots for it to make a home in. This should also help with its terratorial instincts. IP: Logged |
