I have had my tank for less than six months. I just noticed one of my fish has a whitish cover over his eyes that wasn't ther before. There is also foam on the surface of the water. There is no vet around where I live that takes care of fish and the pet store wasn't very helpful. Can anyone help me? It's a Hex 5(5 gallon) tank with a bio-wheel and a carbon filter. IP: Logged |

The whiteish film is a fungus. My medication of choice is Maracyn. Assuming that you have not put any medication in the tank I would suspect bacterial overload to be the cause of the foam. That being the case you need to clean the gravel in the tank and your filter. Also do a 20% - 1 gallon water change right away and another 20% in 3 to 4 days. IP: Logged |
