Just over a month ago, my mom decided she wanted fish and bought 2 male black mollies, 1 female marble molly, and 2 other platys. She doesn't know anything about fish and the very next day, the marble molly gave birth to 4 fry.

My question is, how long after that will she give birth again? It's been over a month and she looks really fat. But since I don't know much about mollies either, I was wondering how long until she gives birth, what are the habits they obtain before giving birth, and how can I tell if she's just fat or even pregnant? Thanks.

are you sure that there are 4 babies? coz a normal molly will give birth to 30-60 babies in a batch (maybe it was eaten). anyweyz about the pregnancy stage...it takes about 1 1/2 to 2 months before they can give birth to another batch. habits? one thing i observed is that before they give birth they tend to hide at the back part of the tank(if there are plants...they usually hide in there)they become motionless and tends to just sit at the bottom. if its ready to give birth usually there is a black(gravid) spot right in its anal. putting plants is good to ensure the survival of the babies.

Hi, thanks. Yup, most certainly she only had 4 because my mom was home watching at the time. Although I told her she probably had more and the other fish ate them, but who knows. I'll keep a watch for her.
