I just got a new female marble molly for my 1 gallon tank and shei s preg. There is 1 other fish in there, a male longtail marble molly. Well the thing is... i've never had a preg fish before and i have no idea what to do. They guy i got my female from says my male won't eat the fish but i don't think he knew what he was talking about.... IP: Logged |

Looking at the date on your post you probably have your answer already. Just in case you haven't, your assessment of the salesperson is most likely correct. The easiest way to deal with the situation is to float fine leaved plants in the top of the aquarium, like hornwort or cobomba. Not only does it give the young ones shelter it provides a continual source of food without contaminating the water. I've done this with great success with guppies. IP: Logged |

What I would suggest to you is that you buy a fish breeder. Because the male and the female will eat their own fry. The fish breeders are for breeding and keeping the fry after they are born. It is a simple device made of very fine netting and a thin plastic with hooks or metal ring that go onto the side of your tank. These particular holding taks cost from $2.99-$4.99 depending on the size of the tank. I would also suggest that you get one of these as soon as possible!! BECAUSE THE PARENTS WILL EAT THEIR FRY!!
