I set up my 55 gal. tank about 4 weeks ago. I put the fish in one week later. Fish are doing fine, but the water is still coudy. What is the problem? I added clear up once but it didnt help. The filter I use is the penguin dble wheel. Any sugestions?

Its called New Tank Syndrome. You also didn't say what kind of filtration you are using and/or whether or not you seeded the tank water. All of this helps in growing anerobic bacteria. Nature's ammonia fighters.

At the risk of getting yelled at.....I usually use the filter pad of an established tank to seed my tanks. Never suffered a problem and cloudiness is rare in my tanks.

Hi, I usually stay over in the doggy forum but thought I would sneak over here..we used to raise tropcial fish for the west coast..I have a couple of questions..one being is are you on a city well where they treat your water...if so..I would drain the tank down about 2/3 and use bottled water..I hope fishman agrees with me if not ..no offense fishman but that is what we did for years..or find someone who in the county and go to their well and get some water for your tank......good luck
