hi- i have a pacu who is almost 2 years old and is 12 inches long. ive had him since he was only 1" big. theres a pole blocking part of his tank and when he cant see me he moves so he can be in eye contact, but when i look towards him he hides behind the pole. its as if he is playing hide and go seek. he likes to watch tv so when i am not home i leave the tv on for him. also he will be on the side of the tank that i am closest to, he likes to follow me, i thought at first it was cause he was hungry but it isnt. does anyone elses pacu show these characteristics. let me know. thanks.

No, It's no joke. I have had large severum and oscars that really do recognize their owners. It doesn't surprise me about the TV either. If you attach a bell to a string and lower the string into the tank, the fish will ring the bell! I've seen fish ring bells every time someone walks into the room.
