I am looking into starting a 55 gallon aquarium setup for piranah. how many are recommended for that size tank? Also, is it better to buy the piranahs as babys or to get them full size? IP: Logged |

Maybe three, four if you wanna push it. I would buy them as babies so they'll get along well and they cost less when they're small. Good luck IP: Logged |

figure on 40 gallons per fish. Your common piranha (Pygocentrus nattereri) reaches a foot long in the wild. IP: Logged |

Do they get as big in captivity as they do in the wild, and would they stay smaller if in a smaller tank? IP: Logged |

They will stay smaller in the smaller tank, but you will also cause undue physical harm on the fish by keeping it in small quarters. This could lead to poorly developed fins and internal problems. Is it really worth the risk? IP: Logged |
