I just bought one marble molly and one baloon molly. The next day the marble molly gave birth. Now I'm wondering if the two I have could possibly mate. I don't want any more fish. How do I tell the sex of the fish? I don't know if this makes a difference but my baloon molly is pure white IP: Logged |

Are you for real? The Lord took 7 days to create the world. Even he can't make baby mollies overnight. She was probably carrying and almost due when you bought her and the trauma of the trip from the pet shop to your tank stimulated her to deliver earlier. To sex the frys, you'd have to wait till they get bigger. Females are rounder in body shape, and their anal fins are round and softer. Males are usually slimmer built with sharp splinter like anal fins. The mother will be able to give birth a few more times -in about 5-8 weeks cycles - without impregnation from males as she has the ablity to retain the sperm from previous impregnation. However, the subsequent clutches will get smaller in numbers. Good luck. IP: Logged |
