Hi! I'm wondering if anyone knows what would work well in a five and a half gallon tank with a betta? Possibly only plants? I was thinking of an apple snail maybe? But what other fish would be happy here? thanks! IP: Logged |

fake plants are great because they dont pollute the water. just make sure that they are not sharp so that they wont cut his fins. you might could add 3 coreycats. they are cool too. maybe 2 or three mollies. a five and a half gallon is really too small to put much more in there. i think your betta would enjoy his solitude with out other fish. a snail would be okay, but personally i just like keeping my bettas solitary. you can get really neat decorations at your lfs (local fish store) that your betta will love. my betta has a fake cave thingy with a bunch of holes that he can easily fit through that he loves. he also has lots of silk plants and a fake tree. the other fish might pick on the betta because his fins attract them and may agrivate them. so i think, in my opinion, that the betta is better off alone. hope this helps!! jessoe IP: Logged |

If your Betta has been by him self all its life then it will attack other fish like cory cats fish. I have a betta myself in a 1 gallon tank and I tried to put a Bollon Molly and a Red Platy once and the Betta Attack them, but then I put a Apple Snail in there and it didn't do anything to it because the Betta thinks its like a rock that moves sometimes. I also put a placo in there and it doesn't anything to it because it also thinks its a rock that moves sometimes and if it tries to attack it no harm will happen to the placo because placos have strong patting on the top of it, like a sheild. If you want to put fish in with your bettas then you need to get a bigger tank. !0 or more. IP: Logged |
