That is insane. There's a small community by my city and recently there was a story liek that in the news. One day this ratchety old woman went to her neighbors house and broke ito their garage and killed their black lab. when asked by the Police what she was doing she said she was protecting HER property. The dog had gone onto her property tons of times and she was sick of it! (She had NOO live stock) This is a community where the rich move to be "away" from the city.
The case is still opened and I think she is just going to get a misdemeanor charge and a fine of $1000. How awful! The sick thing is she is not getting charged with breaking and entering or animal cruelty. Just because people are elderly does not mean they are above the law. I have heard too many of these same stories and they all involve people who are 50 or older. This one particular woman was in her 60's
Makes you wonder about our justice system, that's for sure.

we had a case in my town last year where a guy put out antifreeze-laced dog food which ended up killing his neighbor's dogs (2 one survived). HE said he put the food out the kill coyotes and raccons - which in itself is illegal here (to poison them).

Yes the owner of the dog was at fault for not keeping his dogs at home - but the guy who killed them never once complained to either the dogs' owner or the police about the dogs. He just choose to take the matter into his own hands.

He got a fine...small measly little fine.
