Three dogs were found skinned in Sioux Falls with their front paws cut off. "For as long as I have been here," Sioux Falls Humane Society's Rosey Quinn declares, "This is the worst of the worst. I mean there is no way to describe what this looked like, what these animals must have went through. There's just no words to explain it." In the five years Quinn has worked at the Humane Society she's seen a lot of cruelty, including a burned cat, abused dogs and starved horses. But the dogs found lying in a field near Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls are by far the most disturbing sights to date. Quinn explains, "They'd been skinned. Their front paws had been cut off. It's a very sad thing to see, especially for those of us who work at the Humane Society."

Quinn thinks the adult dogs were shelties, but because they were skinned it's hard to tell. Their bodies were sent to a veterinary pathologist who hopes to confirm the breed, along with the time and cause of death. Quinn notes there is a tie between cruelty to animals and human violence and "We need to find out who did this, we need to find out what's wrong." People have already begun calling the Humane Society, offering rewards to find out who could do something so torturous to animals. The reward for information leading to the person responsible for this crime is already up to 25-hundred dollars. An animal cruelty fund is also being set up at the Humane Society.

If you have any information you are asked to call CrimeStoppers at 367-7007 or the Humane Society at 338-4441. In either case, your call can remain anonymous.
