Most of my postings have been about Jake and his health problems and Wylie has been in perfect health. She is my energizer bunny that wants to play frisbee from her waking moment to sleep, not to mention her need to to RUN.

This weekend she really didnt make any effort to play frisbee, but she was sitting in her usual spot most of the day watching activity from her hill down to our road the cyclists and cars. The Sunday morn we went for our hike, and she just didnt have her usual zip of energy. She hung out with my husband for a few hours while he was working on the garden and then she came in the house and went under our bed and slept for the afternoon. Not like her. My husband was off for the last 2 days doing work outside, but he said she slept most of the day in the house and then when I got home from work I normally throw her frisbee about a half an hour, she would bring meher frisbee I would throw it a few times and the she would go lay on her bed and rest. And then she always sleeps on hour bed and for the last 3 nights she slept under the bed. She has been eating, no loss of appetite.
This behavior is just not her, Jake played more than she did last night. Anyone else who didnt know her wouldnt think anything was wrong, but myhusband noticed it too.

Any ideas on what could be going on?

has she been up to date with all her vaccinations? I'm sure she has, just thought I'd ask. Perhaps she's not feeling well. I'd take her temp, and watch her for a day or so. If she continues to act this way, I'd take her to the vet for a health check up just to be sure.

I agree honeybear, take her temp and see if she is running a fever. If she keeps acting this way I would take her to the vet too and have her checked.

100 to 102.5 is normal range. I would take her to the vet for a check if it's below 99 or above 103, but thats just me. Are there any other symptoms at all? Stuffiness, watery eyes, is she drinking enough? limping on anything? are her stools normal? Anything other than the lethargy?

and LOL about the not liking temp taken. Dooley always looks at the vet tech like she is a perv..his eyes say "you have a serious problem" he looks so disgusted at her. Witt is tries to sit down and thinks she is just rude. One of our cats hisses the whole time they do it.

Whenever Nala is calm and behaving herself, I always wonder if she is sick. Isn't that terrible?

Dogs can hide a lot, though, so if Wylie doesn't perk up in the next day or so I'd probably bring her to the vet for a check-up.

I thought I was the only insane one. Rather than enjoying it when Nala is behaving, I sit and worry!

Stool ok ? Urine ok ? eating her food all of it ? Gums have good color ? If any of these are in question get to the Vet at once.
TO many times we second guess and then it is to late. I know been there and regret it, better safe then sorry.

Well, I think when she heard I was going to take her temp "no way are you sticking something up my butt" she is back to her old self. My husband said she took her self for a run yesterday! I hate when she does that, scares me. She went out from with him while he did yard work, it was all that pent up energy from 4 days of no play and when I got home last night she had her frisbee at my feet as soon as I sat down wanting me to throw it.

I really think it must have some short bug like when we get the flu and we dont feel good for a few days.

Horray!

Glad to hear that she is doing better, Honeybear- must have just been a little bug. I am the same way when Cameron is calm (because she never is usually!!!)- I'm always paranoid that she is dying or something!!
