New math: rain + 2(dogs) = MUD!

I guess I took it for granted that Nala never came in with muddy feet! She doesn't really like the rain, so when it is wet out she goes out to do her business and comes right back in.

Bonnie, on the other hand, dug a hole in the mud. Then the two of them tore around the yard. I spent the afternoon cleaning mud off the dogs and the carpet and finished just in time to do it again!

So...how does everyone else control the mud factor?!

Having just moved into my house and not having grass yet this is a problem for us. The dogs are allowed out long enough to potty on rainy days. I know they get bored but the messes they make. My black pom was completly brown once. Anyway they come in the back door attacted to the kitchen and I have towels on the floor. But my husky just steps right over them so I have to catch her and dry her off. I try and not let all three out at the same time b/c its harder to corral the three of them to be able to clean them off. Anyway hope they dont coat your house too bad in mud. I know I am a mean mom cause mud is so fun to play in but I have white walls and carrpet that shows mud. LOL. My husky loves to when she gets by me whipe herself off on the walls. Plus all three hate bath time which they need if they get to wrestling in the mud. Sry for long post I am rambling now.

Lol, I totally understand u. My dogs once tore in the house, into my room and jumped on my sheets all muddy. And let me tell you in Puerto Rico rain showers are rare, when it rains it pours.

So I confine the pups in the kitchen with a baby gate, which only works on Nana cuz my Shih Tzu Sasha has learned to jump the baby gate but if I tell her stay she will stay.

One of my dogs is a Jack Russell, meaning that there is no controlling the mud. We've learned to lower our standards of cleanliness a bit, now that we have three dogs altogether....

But in my younger, more fastidious days, I kept a small towel near the door to try and wipe paws and legs... if they do track some in you're better off waiting for it to dry, I think, then just vacuuming.

I'll just say that we have mostly hardwood floors now, easier to clean. And the few rooms that are carpeted... well, they make wonderful mulit-colored berber carpets......

I keep an old towel at my backdoor and wipe their feet off before they come in. We also bought an inexpensive throw rug about 2' X 6' and placed it in front of the patio door. I don't let them go out longer than to potty when the weather is icky and in the summer when it's nice they get their feet rinsed off with the hose and let in through the front door where there's no carpet.

I do the same as Maisey. On rainy days I simply stick one of Ranger's blue towels by the back door, and so whenever he comes in I get all of the mud off with the towel. Snickers is a little harder though, since she isn't used to the whole towel thing, she doesn't realize how much faster it would go if she would just stand still!

At least Bonnie is excellent at standing still while you wipe her feet. Which is good, because she had entire portions of the yard stuck between her toes!

Nala was actually very patient also. Perhaps she was tired.

LOL, how funny, I am sorry but I keep saying Wylie and Bonnie are clones. Jake loves water like pool lake etc, but when it comes to mud, puddles etc, he walks around them. On the other hand Wylie, If there is a puddle around she will find it and walk thru itI call her my tomboy and Jkae is my sissy dog. I keep a towel at the back door, but she does not like to be wiped down, and I have a rug at the dog door the that catches some it when she comes in. One thing about Bonnie vs Nala is she is shorter hair so much easier to clean.

Mud. You want mud...
Here's Duke after a good wallow.

Remember, this is suppose to be a Yellow Lab.
On days like this I just hose him down.

I should have taken a picture of what Bonnie did to the carpet yesterday. But my daughter was kneeling in a pile of mud holding her collar, surrounded by about a thousand muddy footprints, and Nala was "helping" by wandering back and forth through the mess and licking everybody and everything, so I felt it best to clean up as quickly as possible.

Oh my goodness Jamiya! That sounds very interesting! At least I have mostly hardwood flooring, it makes it so much easier to clean up after Ranger makes a mess, I just get a wet paper towel, and it's gone!

Charllotte won't go near mudd! Soo we don't have to worry about her.

Smokey on the other hand....ahem...
He'll dive into it. roll, and it looks like he's playing on a slip and slide.....
Then wants to jump all over you! as if he's saying "oh come on mom!! Its sooo fun!!!"

needless to say, on days like that, we just go to the tank so he can take a short dip and then off to the house for a good blow dry!

I started a new project this week. I have wanted to do this for a couple years, I bought a "walk Mate" concrete mold several years ago, its to make walkways and paths with. Mine is the country cobblestone look and I am only now starting the project. I am running paths from the sidewalk in the front of my house down each side of my house to the back yard. This requires digging up about 3" of the dirt in 2' x 2' sections and then pouring the concrete into the molds, letting them sit and then cure. I have done 5 so far, yes I am slow! The very first one I did, I stepped back and called the girls to come see it, I was so proud. When Mackenzie opened the door, Witt and Dooley pushed their way out and the first thing Witt did was step on a stone. My husband fearing my hysterics quickly said "I can fix that hun, don't worry!" I looked at it and told him to leave it. I think it will be fun to have his foot print for all time in the path. I've decided to put Dooley's in one too. Yesterday I put a fern leaf on one stone, it left a slight imprint of the frond and looks really pretty, so i think I'll place a little "treasure" on a stone every few feet just to make it interesting. Of course my favorite will be Witt's paw print.
He has webbed feet, the webs go all the way to the ends of his toes though and trap alot of gunk...including concrete, he was good about me cleaning them off though.
