Hi all, I just brought a golden retriever puppy and my vet suggest me to feed him hill's. Do u think that is good for my dog? Have u all heard about pro-plan? Also, he is 3month old now, i'm start thinking to take him to training, can someone tell which training method is best, the residential trainng center or take him to trainig school by myself?

Congrats on your new family member. I think doing the training yourself with the help of classes or the guidance of a trainer is the best way to go. You gain so much in the way of skills, you will gain a better understanding of how your dog thinks, you will be able to use those skills for the rest of your life and build on them. It is also a wonderful way to bond with your dog. Also...in doing the classes you will find that when issues pop up down the road, you will be better prepared to handle them. Finally...Its' just plain FUN!

Check out the FOOD FOR THOUGHT thread on this board by using the search feature offered here. Personally I wouldn't choose either of the foods you mentioned. Reading the thread I mentioned will give you a good idea as to why many wouldn't and offer you lots of links and places to research dog foods.

Hi and wellcome to the forum! Congrats on the new puppy! I love Goldens, my Brother and his family have always had them Two in all! the first one named Annie died of old age and the one they have now is so beautiful! They make wonderful family dogs, and are very smart and easy to train. At least my Brothers was.

Good luck to you and enjoy your pup...

Susan
