Is anyone else having trouble with this pop up ad for 321 Studios. It adds a new one everytime I try to look at another message. If you read 10 messages then you will have 10 ads to delete. This is very aggravating to say the least. IP: Logged |

I use to have the same problem but now I have a pop up blocker from AOL. It lets me choose which sites I dont want pop up ads from and which I do...its kind of cool. IP: Logged |

I highly recommend the Google pop-up blocker. It's free =) Go to www.google.com on the bottom go to Services & Tools, choose Google Toolbar and then Download. This seems to help a lot. Also I would suggest running AdAware on your computer. If you are using it at home, it's free too! Go to www.lavasoft.com then choose Adaware on the left hand side. This is a great tool for eliminating datamining objects, which are used by companys to track which sites you visit and then are able to give you specific pop-ups depending on what sites you do visit. I always delete everything that the program finds. Also you might try clearing out your Temporary Internet Files. If you use Internet Explorer choose TOOLS - Internet Options - Delete Cookies and Delete Files. When you choose Delete Files make sure you select the box to delete all offline content as well. Here is where websites store cookies for their sites, as well as download some pictures and what not to let their site load faster the next time you visit. This is all stuff people should do regularly to keep their computer clean. Hope that helps IP: Logged |

I use a pop-up blocker at home, but I have not had to use one at work yet. These 321 Studios ads are crazy today, though! I don't recall having pop-up problems on this board before. Admins - any info on why this is happening all of a sudden?

I don't think it has anything to do with the site I don't get any pop-ups here. I go through the steps above at least once and month and I dont' experience any pop-ups on any site. IP: Logged |

Samsintentions, Thanks for the link to the PopSwatter. I installed it and it immediately "swatted" away those aggravating pop ups. Here's another great free download program for you computer called Gurunet. You install it and you have not only a great search engine but also a way to check the definition and/or spelling for anything on your screen whether on the internet, in a Word document or any other document. All you have you have to do is hold your cursor over the word and click on it while holding down your ALT key. This launches the dictionary and search process. You can check it out at: http://www.gurunet.com IP: Logged |

This is definitely a new problem with the site, as I am getting the 321 Studios pop-up excessively on multiple computers, whereas I have never had this problem at this site before. A pop-up stopper does block them - but I prefer a fix to whatever is causing them to begin with!

OK YOU'RE RIGHT!! Hehe, I just came home and got on my laptop that doesn't have a pop-up blocker and I've gotten a few pop-ups here. Though they don't say 321 studios, they pop up and go to a Cannot find server page...it's looking for some qksrv.net page. IP: Logged |

Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. We recently introduced a new ad system and it must have gone highwire. Apparently some users were experiencing an excessive number of pop-ups. The system should deliver no more then one pop-up per user per 24 hours. The problem is now fixed and all should be back to normal. My apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused to some members. Please let us know immediately if you are still experiencing an excessive number of pop-ups upon visiting the site. Cheers [This message has been edited by Auspetian (edited 03-08-2004).] IP: Logged |

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ Download a program called Adaware. Run it at LEAST weekly to get rid of junk and spyware on your computer. Also go to http://www.microsoft.com/ and make sure your version of windows has all of its updates (it will automatically check for you) Those things should solve the problem. Popup blockers are more of a cover up instead of a cleanup. They do work and are the simplest fastest solution BUT in the long run you are going to want to clean up your computer. IP: Logged |
