i had nala for 5 years she was the only dog last year in aug. i brought sebastain home he was very nervious of nala of course (she's a rotty and he is a yorkie) one time he was walking across the living room and nala sneezed and sebastain took off running and crying it was very funny but then they got to know each other and they play tug a war nala chases him they have fun then i got Jasmine in Dec. Nala has never really liked her she growls at her and jasmine just rolls over on her back then goes right back to lick in her mouth or put her paws on nala's face nala growls again and Jasmine just wont give up i dont understand if i was a 4.5lb yorkie and a 85lb rotty growled at me i think i would run. and now sebastain is the boss of both of them nala loves to attack the vacume and of course i yell at her now whenever i bring out the vacume sebastain stays by my side and barks like crazy if nala comes by and he jumps up in her face tries to bite her ears i yell at him and it stops he seems to do this alot when i water the back yard nala chases the water he barks at her jumps up to her face nala just walks away it kinda scares me because i'm affarid that one day she will have enough and bite one of them (honestly i wouldnt blame her she is so patient with them) but it would seriously hurt them maybe even kill them. I just dont understand why she puts up with it (i'm glad she does) from sebastain but wants nothing to do with jasmine. When nala and sebastian are playing jasmine has her fun by running behind them barking or if i'm sitting she jumps in my lap and barks at them. I guess i dont understand how a 7lb dog could be the boss of a 85lb dog?? That is another reason i was so nervious of the other dogs in Tahoe Sebastain and Jasmine are little doga with big attitudes and i was affarid that a strange dog wouldnt put up with it.

well any input on why Nala lets Sebastain boss her around and why she hates jasmine i would really like to hear it

thanks

Renee, I am not too experienced in this, but it sounds like Jasmine is the alpha dog, you need to stop this asap or he is likely to get hurt, like you say, Nala may say enough is enough and snip but for a yorkie it could be dangerous. My parents have a shitsu that is the same way, she is the dominant one and when she comes to visit she puts my big dogs in their place, luckily nothing has ever happened. And for Nala letting sebastion pick on her but not Jasmine sounds typical when you bring a 3rd dog in the house

Hopefully someone can chime in here, there have been a lot of recent posts in this same subject and how to help. I would do a search here under "dominance"
good luck

Sounds like Sebastian is dominant. Size doesn't make a difference with dogs, sometimes.

The problem with Jasmine could be the two female thing. I have heard that sometimes multiple females do not get along.

Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in soon.

Just out of curiosity, whatever possessed you to get tiny dogs when you already had a rottie? I love tiny dogs, but my Nala (who is only 40 pounds and not dog aggressive at all) would be way too rough on them, so I can't have one.

I'm not sure what possessed me to get the Yorkies other then i have alway wanted one even as a kid. I never really liked Big dogs cuz my brother had a big german shepard when i was little and that dog was very mean. But there was something about nala when i saw her that i had to have her then i saw a Yorkie 5 years later and decided i had to have one why i got 2 i will never know but i love them all to death and wouldnt change it for the world. I just hope nala and jasmine get along better
