Hi...I have one of those treat/food dispensing cube things that you put treats or kibble in to make your dog "work" for it's food( I heard these were good for keeping the dog busy and keep his mind working.) I use to put food in it but my dog was getting a little chunky cause I use to free feed her aswell.( I do not free feed her anymore) WEll now that I have started school agian I am not able to take her out as much as I would like and I was thinking of putting either her breakfeast or dinner in the cube and letting her eat her food like that sometimes. I dont know if this is a good idea though cause she may not get all the food out therefore not eating a whole meal, but I thought it would be good cause it would get her mind busy and her body by pushing the cube around trying to get the food. I thought I could do this on the days I have school all day and give her the cube when I leave. I'm just trying to think of ways to keep her busy and occupied while i am at school all day.(I only have a full day of achool 2 days a week) I do give her bones but she just lays down and eats them. Does anyone else use these food/treat dispensing cubes, and do you think if i put one of her meals in there once in a while it could be a good thing for her? I just feel so bad leaving her all day and then when i come home late i have tons of homework so she doesnt get a full walk, just little ones on those days. What do you guys think?

Maybe you could try putting part of her meal in the cube. That way you know she is getting 3/4 of her meal and has to work for the other 1/4, or something like that. When I leave Luna to go to work, I give her a kong with peanut butter that has been frozen, it takes her longer to get all the peanut butter that way. But I am sure she licks it until it is done and then just sits around.

You could put her meal in the cube and whatever she doesn't manage to get out, take it out and feed it to her when you get home.

Hi winnie,
I think that would be great for your dog. Mental stimulation is just as xhausting as physical stimualtion for dogs. I also freeze peanut butter in a kong for my dog, and since I have full days as well, I get up early and we excercise then. I started this because she had really bed seperation anxiety, and now its a moring routine we both enjoy! Like Jamiya said, you coul dput a quarter of her food in the cube before you leave and give her the next 3/4 when you get home.
Good Luck
