I have read all the parvo topics and I can't find the answer I am looking for. Dawn Marie a 7 week old mix puppy came down with it through her shot. Well we got over the hump and she is doing good. Well now she can't go to the bathroom is there anything I can do to help her.

She is under the vets care she is on meds for that. This morning at 9am I called him and told him what was going on he said sionce she was doing so good to go ahead let her have some regular food and that should do good. Well by 5pm I got worried again and I called the shelter worker we got her from and she told me she should be fine and if she has not had a bowl movemnet by tomorrow I would need to take her to the emergancy center.

You may want to use a warm damp cloth to gently rub on her belly and bum to help get her muscles to perform correctly.

That's good news! I put a little olive oil in my dogs dry food, it helps with thier bowl movements. And it helps many other things as well! like: shiny hair. I'm happy to hear your pup is doing well...send some pics this way....Susan

I had a puppy that had parvo and I couldn't afford a vet. I could cry just thinking about the whole thing and it was over 10 years ago. But ,a vet gave me advice and I followed it. My son and I took shifts and stayed with her night and day for about 3 days, giving her 3 to 4 drops of pedialite every 1/2 hour. Anything more and she would vomit it up.After we passed the criticle stage where she could have died, we only gave her pedialite until she seemed to want food. We put her on over cooked rice for her first food mixing just a little hamberger in it. As the days went on we increased the meat and lessened the rice. That seemed to ease her stomach and functions back slowly. She is asleep on my couch as I write this. She is special and the love of my life. She has epilepsy and siezures but is doing well now with medication twice a day. She hasn't been easy, but she is worth it.
