Sadie is definitely in heat - the bleeding started today. What should I do to insure that she does not bleed on carpets, furniture etc.... IP: Logged |

when my ex boyfriends boxer went in heat, he would buy these pad things for her. You can go to petco or any dog store and they should have what look llike doggy diapers....hope this helps IP: Logged |

I know these might be silly questions but: Do you leave them on all day? What about when they use the rest room - do u just take them off when they go out to use it? How long does the bleeding usually last - the whole heat cycle or just a portion of it - and if just a portion how long is that usually? Heat cycles last about 3 weeks. Bleeding for about 10 days sometimes longer. Instead of spending a ton on doggy diapers you should go and buy whitey tightys. Then buy the biggest pads that you can find. Put the undies on backwards to the tail sticks out of the hole. IP: Logged |

Hi! When Casey was in heat i bought a doggie diaper for her. I would buy one made of material not plastic. I got her one made of jean material, its alott more comfortable for her than the plastic ones. Then buy ultra thin sanitary napkins, and cut them in half! there is no sense in paying what you would pay for basically the same thing at a pet store. I also used baby powder spray for the oder that often accompanies the heat cycle. Do not spray it directly on her vulva, just a little on her back. Hope this helps you! P.S. I would not walk her during her heat, dogs find a way out when they smell her,,,just my opinion! Susan IP: Logged |

HI the whole heat cycle lasts between 19-25 days some longer some less. Bleeding usually last for 9 days and the amount of blood passing reduces as the female gets closer to standing for the males i have added a section on heat cycles from the book of the bitch hope this helps you out. Stage one of the cycle is called:- Stage 2 :- Stage 3 :- I dont have to worry about pants or pads for my dogs as they clean themselves so much when heat you would not know they were I can pin point roughly when my girls are coming into heat. mike IP: Logged |

My pup just went into heat again, and what we do for her is buy little boys underwear, it has sizes on the pack, and we also buy womens pads. We put them on "normally" but cut a small hole in the back for her tail to come out of. I find it pretty cute. This time we bought spiderman undies. You should see the looks we get from people! We bought her doggie undies from a pet store but when we got home and opened the box, what we pulled out was black and leather and looked like a thong! No thanks, not for my girl. I find its also cheaper this way. About 7 bucks at Walmart for a 3-pack of undies and 4 buck for a pack of pads. (PS Wings help keep it in place) Good Luck! Leslie ------------------ IP: Logged |
