This is me being paranoid. Nala has been restless tonight in her crate, and then I noticed her panting quite loudly. I don't recall her ever doing that. It kept going on, so I got her up and let her drink water, which she did but not excessively. She's outside going potty now.

Can you think of any reason she would be panting? Just warm, maybe? We don't keep our bedroom very warm, and it's the same as it has always been.

Should I call a vet tomorrow (errrr, later today) or will they think I am crazy?

Hiya jamiya is nala spayed the reason i ask is because when my females are due to come into heat they will pant like mad as if they are really warm.

If she is spayed i wuld take her to the vet just to have her looked over even if it is just for piece of mind.

Please keep us posted of her progress.

Hi,

Since panting is often a stress indicator, I usually try to look at what could be stressing them.... one of my dogs pants when he has to urgently go out- a few times it's been because he has diarrhea or has to throw up... I probably wouldn't call the vet unless it goes on. Sometimes I think that they're just feeling anxious or maybe have a tummy ache or something...hopefully she's stopped it by now!

Hi i found out that panting is associated with over heating, heat cycle, Labour, Eclapsia and mammary tumours that have spread to the lungs.
It can also be associated with a heart and lung problem unless there is nothing changed in her life that could have triggered this off i would call the vets just to get some information on the matter as my mum always says its always better to be safe than sorry.

Could this have been caused from the stress that the other dog you had put her under.

She didn't pant anymore when I put her back in her crate. I don't think it was the other dog because that was weeks ago, and yes she is spayed.

I think I will watch her closely for the next couple of days and if she shows any signs of heavy panting I will bring her in for a check-up. Maybe she was just thirsty.

She seemed fine this morning when we got up for real. Of course, I am dead tired, LOL. It's just like having small children all over again. ("Mommy, can I have a drink of water??")

Wylie did this not too long ago, but she had a shot the day before (I dont remember which one) and in the middle of the ight she woke up panting and was extremetly hot and was acting really weird. I stayed up with her keeping her cool and kept an eye on her and then she was fine,so I think she had a reaction to the shot even though it was longer than I expect for a reaction
