When I used to take my dog for walks he never used to relieve himself, but now it's like he saves it all up to do at the park... sometimes he'll do three or four on the same trip, and I am following him around with poo bags like his personal poo scooper slave! Does anyone else have this problem??? I am worried my new pup is going to copy him and I'll be picking up twice as much---I wouldn't mind so much if there were some bins around!
The most logical way it seems to me to teach him is make him learn a command for it & then get him to do it before we go out, but I'm most certain he'd still have some more saved up for the park!
Does anyone have any other solutions? It's driving me loopy!

I try to encourage my dog to go in my backyard at home. It seems like whenever I start talking to a guy...she was going poo and im like "excuse me I have to go shovel sh*t" in the middle of the conversation. So my dogs generally go at home now =D But I HAVE seen that going on. MANY owners seem to have that problem at the parks I go to.

Duke just turned two and he has adjusted to a regular schedule of pooping after his morning and evening meal. It does seem strange that your older dog has now altered his routine. May be age related, or food related if you have recently changed his diet.
Dogs do seem to have the knack to embarrass us by pooping at THE most inopportune times. My old Lab was so excited on his first visit to a beach. He loved the sand and waves. All was fun and games until he stopped and pooped in the water right next to some swimmers, and that was after I had made sure he pooped before we left home. I was so embarrassed but fortunately the swimmers didn't seem to notice while I proceeded to chase down the poop in the surf. That would have made the Worlds Funniest Video show for sure.

LMAO, Dukesdad!! Thank you, you have made my day.

Nala used to poop near the beginning of her walks or time in the park. But since we switched to raw, she doesn't poop anywhere near as much or as often, so she goes in the yard. In fact, she doesn't drink as much either and she doesn't always have to pee as SOON as she comes out of the crate. Silly doggie.

I think it must be something about exercise that makes their bowels run rampid-- when take Cameron out for a walk or to the park she always poos at least 2 times, sometimes up to 3 or 4. I know it is such a hassel to have to pick it up every time, especially the last one because it is barely anything! Then again, she also pees a million times "marking" her territory, so maybe she poops so much for the same reason?

Hi,
When you get to the park is he walked off the leash? (I'm presumimg yes) Maybe try keeping him on his leash until he's done his business?
I keep Floob on his until he's been once then let him run. He seems to know as he goes on the same stretch of grass now then looks at me asif to say 'come on then, lemme go' lol
Thing is, even if it's been a couple of hours, the next time he 'goes' is when I've put his leash back on, then he'll sometimes go another 2 times. It's asif he associates his leash with formalities, so no leash is playtime and not for business.

Maybe worth a try. Good luck.

OH Dukesdad that is SO funny!!!
Thanks for all your stories... I have taught Bender not to go while he is on the lead, I'd probably rather it that way coz then he doesn't do it on the side of the street infront of bus loads of people and what-not! I think I have to just teach him a command and hopefully get him to get most of it out before we go out!
I know what you mean Puggleowner, the last one's usually so small it's not even worth a plastic bag! I tell him everyday to do it all at once- but he never listens to me!! I also think that maybe when he's ran out of pee to mark his scent, a little poo will do the job!!
Still laughing about Dukesdad chasing the poo in the water lol
