I have a question. Smokey has recently been 'dragging' his butt on the grass, much more often in the past couple of days. I heard that the Anal glands are whats causing him to do this. How do I empty them, what can I do to prevent this from happening again?

if you've never expressed anal glands before it's probably best to let the vet do it. It is a nasty nasty job

True about being a nasty job but that is the problem with your dog. Get them cleaned soon for they may become infected . Let the Vet do it first then watch and see if you want to try to do it yourself in the future. If it's not the anal glands then it might be worms. That can cause the butt scooting boogey also.

I agree - I would have your vet show you how and give you recommendations on how to avoid it in the future. It is very much diet-related, I think, although some dogs just need it done on a regular basis (especially small breeds).
