Hiya guys great news mitzy is pregnant and vet estimates between 5-7 but could be more as she is a very large bodied female so the scan does not see well through fat.

I am so excited they have also given her a clean bill of health and say she is in top condition.

Hi Mike, great news
I was meaning to ask you... what do you think about having a couple of german shaphard pups with an older dog? I have a freind who's got a 15 yr old heinz 57 bitch. She's a lovely dog and deffenitly has german shephard in her but she's going blind and is deaf so a little short tempered at times.
He desperatly wants to get his pups when he gets back off hols in may but I'm unsure as to if his old lady would handle it ok... just thought I'd ask since you obviously have experience with all ages.

Thanks

Hi the best thing your friend could do is if he can borrow someones puppy just for a couple of hours and see how his older girl is with it.

Some old females are quite tolerant of puppys providing when they get too much for her as in keep jumping on her and she has a little snap to say enough that the puppies are then put away from her so she can rest she should be ok.

Also introducing them slowly is the best way to go then he can see how she reacts to being jumped on a pulled on by the puppy.

My grandmothers dog is 17 and she is great with puppies she still tries to mother mine when she is here which is quite funny since all they want to do is pull on her tail and ears lol

But caution needs to be taken as now she is at the age where she does not know when she is doing wrong.

hope this has helped a little.

Hi, thanks, that's given me something to think about, so it'll give him something too. I'll copy/paste it and show him what you said cause I'll never remember lol.

Thanks again

*sorry for hijacking your thread for a minute*

Back to the celebrations now people...

Hi Mike, That's great news!!! I've been away for a few days, so I haven't had a chance to check in. Give her a pat for me, and one for yourself! How excited you must be.....
