people are allowed to own pets.

I have neighbors who had (key word here being had) 2 little dogs. One a chi mix, other a pom mix. For the past 2 years we've dealt with these dogs chasing every car, every person on our little street. Chasing us us our driveway, other neighbors up their driveway. They've been fined, spoke to by everyone in the neighbors, spoken to by police when the dogs have chased them, spoken to by the post office who delivers their mail - yet the dogs continued to chase cars. And they are small - you can't see them.

2 weeks ago one of the dogs (chi mix) ran into a car and died. My oldest son found the dog..it wasn't run over so we figure the dog slipped and ran into the tire of whatever vehicle it was terrorizing. This dog was smaller than the average cat being a chi mix. The owners came along after my son found the dog and they were boohooing carrying on - buttheads. They should have been prepared for the moment seeing as how their dogs chased everything and weren't immune to being hit.

Today I go home for lunch - the remaining dog chased me!!!! I had our truck - cab and 1/2 - and it's nearly impossible to see the little dog when it's chasing me. So I stop/start - go slow. So butthead neighbor comes running up the road calling the little dog. I get out of my truck in my driveway and yelled out a comment about stupid people shouldn't own pets.

Sorry to vent - I just can't believe the idiocy of these people. You can bet if my GSD was chasing them they've throw a fit.

I think people should have to have a license to own pets - and not just a paper formality type of thing. It should involve education and preparation and stuff.

Okay, so the idea is not fully worked out. But still. There has to be a better way.

There is absolutely no excuse for these dogs continually running loose. Ever hear of a fence? We have dogs like that in my neighborhood too- people just put them out in the front yard and forget about them. This is fine for dogs that are trained to stay in the yard, but many are not, and continually chase people and cars. Not only is this completely inconsiderate of their neighbors, but this is almost abuse on the part of the owner for continually allowing it's "beloved" pet to be exposed to danger. There are just too many stupid people in this world, and unfortunately there's no laws against letting them own pets.

I totally agree here. My neighbor has a german sheppard pup about 8 mo old who he allows to run loose. It is always in my yard which i didnt mind but he tears up my trash. One day the dog started licked from a gas can in the front yard. (Kept there so my dogs cannot get it they stay in a fence in the back) SO I thought it was the right thing to do to let my neighbor know in case the dog got sick. Well he yelled at me for having a gas can where his dog could get to it. I told him it was not my responsibilty to keep his dog safe and if he felt that way keep the dog off my property. I fell so bad for this dog they leave him alone in the house every weekend while they go out of state and I can hear the dog crying. He is so lonley I would love to let him play with my dogs but my husky is not too fond of him.

Its times like these I thank my lucky stars I live so far back in the woods if my dogs chased a car its probably imaginary.. lol..
But i TOTALLY understand. I know what its like to go down a road and an evil little dog who never got told NO or got put on a leash or a fenced in yard, decided to chase me and try and bite my tires, or any part of the car they could get their mouth on. It burns me up that some ppl could have the nerve to cry about losing an animal that if they had TRULY cared for would have done more to protect it!!!!!!!
Yeah there should be classes for pets and kids and its mandatory before you have either. Or even BEFORE you PLAN to have either!!
I just dont think I would have the patience you have had the past few months ( or years) I would have been done found the little pets another home and let them mysteriously go missing in the middle of the night where they are at least safe, and loved.
At least you know there is a place for you to vent so you dont keep the anger built up inside of you!! ( Or overflowing into your neigbors yard where you might proceed to hurt the neighbors)

I couldnt agree more. I also think there should be IQ testing before some people are allowed to breed themselves. Anyone who disagrees with me should stop by a Las Vegas walmart at about midnight or 1 am. You'll be PROVEN wrong.

You would think they would at least be more careful now that they have lost one dog!
There is a Dachshund on the next street over that is always outside unsupervised and not tied up. Several times he has come flying across the street after Natalie and the one time I was freaking out because a car was coming...I closed my eyes I thought for sure he would be hit. He does this to my neighbor when she walks her dog too. Its unbeleivable how some people will put their dogs lives (and others) at risk.

That is so sad! I hate hearing about any animal getting hit by a car, even if he is the one chasing them. We had such a bad problem in our neighborhood with loose or even stray dogs forever it seemed. Then my husband and I noticed that we just don't see that hardly at all anymore! The animal control Dept. must have really cracked down hard! That's good...I was always afraid of the pit down the street, and now I don't have to worry so much anymore.

I just don't understand "and never will" how people say they love their pet's! then let them run wild.....
