I have two dachshunds that soil wherever they sleep. Max is the one I really think that does it, he is a brown/red mini and he will be three years old this June. Rufus is black and he will be two this June. They are both boys and have been "fixed". I do not know what to do about this. I wash the material that they pee on but they continue to do it. I have read up about this and the only thing I read is that dogs do not soil where they sleep. Well, mine do and I have no idea why. We are fixing to move into an apartment and they are going to stay in most of the time. What can I do? -Mandy10@yahoo.com Mandy IP: Logged |

Perhaps they are not being let out often enough? Do you wash the beds with a product specifically designed to neutralize the urine odor? I have heard that doxies can be very hard to housetrain. Are they confined to their beds (i.e. in a crate)? Or do they have free roam of the house but still prefer to soil their beds?

Just wanted to say hello to another Rufus owner. I thought you were going to talk about weimeriners for some reason. My terrier mix's name is Rufus. Down below. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Yes, they have free reign of the house, they go out a bunch. I ask them all of the time if they want out and sometimes they go and sometimes they don't want to go. They pee wherever they lay down.?!?!? IP: Logged |

Hmmm. Any idea if they are peeing in their sleep, or while awake?
