Thank you for all the wonderful help for Dakota. Wanted to let you know that he is doing alot better today. he went out twice today and walked the neighborhood (very slowly). But he was very good and listened real well. We have fixed Dakota's fence more times then I can count and he is so smart that he keeps finding another area to take his teeth until he pulls up on the spikes in the ground that keep the wire down between posts and then crawls under. Or his sister comes to the outside of the fence and either helps him out or comes into the fence. Her owners do not leash her or give her any attention. Since it has gotten the winter months, we have let Dakota's sister come in our house to play with him and they play for awhile and then they fall asleep together. We think that we will take down the fence and either put up a good dog run type fence and get a crate for inside the house, like some of you mentioned. He tried to go after a cat this afternoon, so I know that he must be feeling alittle better. We spend every waking moment devoted to our dog Dakota. He is the center of our world. Maybe he is too spoiled. We do not yell or raise our voice at him ever. My husband had back surgery and last night he picked Dakota up (who weighs 44 pounds) and carried him outside and down the icy porch steps then put him down gently so that he could pee. Dakota is very much house broken. Whatever Dakota wants, that is not going to hurt him, he usually gets. I am telling you all this to try and let you see that we love him very much and to us he is wonderful and we think he is a great dog, even when he does things that we don't like. Thanks again for all your help.

Hi!
I'ts very apparent that you love Dakota! I hope that I or anyone else here did not make you think that: we thought you weren't doing enough! I'm happy to hear that he's better and on his way to a full recovery.

Just to clarify: the reason for all of the suggestions (and that's all they are) is that that is exactly what this forum is for.

We hope that in some small way we can contribute some sound advise or even concern at times.

I know that for myself! I have recieved and and most times used the advise givin to me, because it is soooo helpful, and has in the past resolved many different issues I have had.

Again I'm happy to hear Dakota is doing better, and that you also love on his sister as well!

Sincerely, Susan

Thanks. I hope I did not come across like I didn't appreciate all the wonderful suggestions. I did not mean that. Because I really do appreciate all of them. We are going to try a lot of them once he is back to his old self. I am sorry if I came off in a bad way or offended anyone. I did not mean to. Like I said before Dakota is our child. My husband and my children our all grown and living far away and to us Dakota brings such wonderful laughter and love to our empty house. We want only all of Dakota's niceness to come out along with making him completely happy. It is very hard with us having our medical set backs at the moment. But I really do appreciate everything everyone said to me. Thanks again.
