Hi there! I am new to posting, so please be patient if I do something wrong. We have a 9 week old Bull arab, that is absolutely adorable. He has settled in really well at home, however I noticed yesterday that he passed some jelly like substance with some blood staining. He did this three times and then returned to normal. He is still his playful fun loving self, and is eating as usual, and I can't see anything strange today. Has anyone out there had the same experience in other breeds? Also is there anyone out there with a BULL ARAB? I have had Bull ARABS in the past and find that they are so smart. This liitle guy is fully toilet trained and also knows how to sit, and fetch at this early age. They amaze me. I would love to hear from others. Just because he is a really young pup, I would take in a stool sample to the vet to be safe. It sounds like you have a great dog! Congrats on your new addition! IP: Logged |

I have no idea what would cause this problem, but because it's not normal, I would have a vet see him. Wellcome to the forum! and I'm sure you'll get more advise as well. And congrats! on the new member! Can you post a pic? so we can see him too! Susan IP: Logged |

I don't want to scare you but we had a Dane that did the same thing and a week later Parvo - we saved her but it was a long road and a lot of money. On the good side what are you feeding ? Most pups can't eat dry food to harsh on there digestive system. Still I would call the vet just to be on the safe side. The gel coating usually is a sign that the food is to rich or hard to digest or they may have ingested something they should not have. Be most careful in my (opinion) with rawhide chews and some stuffed toys. You should check the stool for any objects in it, string, rawhide, solid food, *worms.* * Did you go to the vet right after you got your pup for check up? you need to recheck for worms at this age offten. That first year it's a handfull but worth it in the end. IP: Logged |

Hi, Thank you for your post. I have been reading up on Parvo, and it does scare me, he has however no other symptoms. He is due for his 2nd immunisation next week. He is terrible for eating things that he shouldn't, and I am constantly taking things that he finds in the yard off him. He was fully vaccinated and vet checked when we got him, and I wormed him for the 2nd time as he was due on the 5/2. He seems fine today, but I am constantly following him around watching him go to the toilet and checking that it is all normal. Regarding what he is eating, he is on dry food, and I just switched the meat that he was eating, I did it gradually, and only for one of his meals a day (currently on two), but perhaps I will take him off the meat, and soak his dry food before giving it to him. In such a short time he has become such a big part of our family. Thanks again, I will keep you updated as to our progress. IP: Logged |
