I am getting a teacup poodle and I am going to dye her pink.. but I dont know what to use to dye her with. I want to use something that lasts a few weeks (or close to it) and that makes a bright pink. Can anyone please tell me what works the best and the easiest and makes a bright hot pink color? Thank u so much!

I really can't believe this one. You want to dye your dog? This has to be a joke. I can't even answer this.

Cherry or Strawberry Kool-aid.

Take about ...oh a dollar or two dollars worth of the UNSWEETENED kind and mix it up with water and put it in a spray bottle. Spray it on all over..get it completely saturated. Take a hair dryer and blow her dry. (it should be crusty) Rinse her in the shower and get her/him all wet again. Dry once more and she should be a nice shade of hot pink.

Adding a little (ok a lot...like a whole bottle) of red food coloring will intensify the color but if you use ONLY food coloring...it will wash out near instantly in water. If you just want a one or two day dye...use the food coloring but be careful if you have white furniture.
KoolAid will last a few months...one month of good color...and then after about 2 months it will be a very very pale color unless you whiten it out.

This is strawberry flavored with no food coloring as I ran out. Actually..this was FlavorAid. I used blue koolaid brand once on a mini poodle and it did not turn out very well at all and washed out quicly so I prefer to use the FlavorAid (just the rip off cheap brand) instead.

Things I have learned or been told: NEVER use human coloring products like Manic Panic...they will hurt your dogs skin as poodles often have sensitive skin. "magic silver white" by decore was recommended to me however. I do not know where to find this product unfortunately. KoolAid works just fine for me. I have done her in pink...and with a LOT of help from food coloring...did her red white and blue for the forth of july. Wish i had those pictures still!

And in response to the shock....I dye my dog for two reasons. One is entirely for myself...I always wanted a pink poodle. The OTHER is because my dog is an absolute attention whore. She gets pissed when people dont look at her and pet her and completely fawn over her. When I got a baby chihuahua...everyone paid attention to him and this drove her nuts. When shes pink....she gets all the attention wherever she goes. Cars have literally pulled over to see her and she is the diva wherever she goes. I wouldn't have her any other way. I love her to death and she loves and craves attention and as you well know..poodles arent always the favorite breed...but a pink poodle...well it would almost be cruel not to dye her as no one would come up and pet her.

It just can't be any worse then when my son took cloths dye and did his hair in light blue 16 at the time. The funny thing was his forehead and neck ears were blue. You just got to love them..no photos on that one darn...

I know for a fact that manic panic brand hurt my hairdressers bichon so thats enough for me to never try it on my dog. His dog could have been super sensitive but I dont care...I'd rather stick to the completely harmless stuff. Plus it smells better!!! Yeah...FlavorAid will last longer....the food coloring will bring the color out more but dont do it if you have white furniture your dog gets onto. I would do the flavoraid...dry..then rinse....then spray on the food coloring then dry come to think of it...the food coloring doesnt leave the hair crusty like the flavor does..and if you rinse after you put food coloring on..the food coloring part will wash out instantly. So use the food coloring to darken the color or touch up any spots that you might have missed.
I use a spray bottle cause of how the stuff just rolls off the dogs fur since its poodle fur....the spray makes it...well...LESS messy...but it is a messy process =D And can dye your hands..so wear some dishwashing gloves unless you want pink hands for the evening =D

LOL I was going to tell her Kool-Aid but I knew you would answer MistressKela, I just wasn't expecting you to say Kool-Aid too. The teens around here use it for their hair and I figured it would be the leaste likely to make the pup sick.

Hi Stephanie,
I just replied to your email, but like I said there, I don't know a thing about dying a dogs hair. I have a mini doxie and a shi tzu, i think they would look pretty funny with dyed hair.heheheehhe!!!Good luck figuring it out! and we want pics! with or without a dye job!!! Susan

Perhaps you could ask Karma also, in the post about grooming...
