Hi Mallory,

You'll have to call the airlines because they may all have rules that vary somewhat. I know someone who just flew with their dog, and the airline required that the dog fit into a carrier of specific dimensions in order to fly in the "people" section of the plane. Her dog, a rat terrier, was just a little to large to fit the carrier. He therefore had to fly in a special compartment underneath, in a place I believe was in close proximity to the checked baggage. In addition, this airline would only allow dogs to fly under there if the temperature on the ground was 20 degrees or higher.

I've shipped my puppies before, and Delta has a wonderful program!! ITs the PET FIRST program. IT works 1 of 2 ways. You can substitute your carry on luggage for a pet under 10lbs, and non exotic. Or they can fly cargo. They crate them and put them below with the rest of the animals. There is someone down there to monitor them, as well as water and feed them if the flight is over 8 hrs.

GOod luck!

AIRLINES accepting pets: The best airline is Lufhansa. A puppy is allowed to be with you, under your seat, only if it is under 8 kilos, in a box and has it's book and a letter from the vet which assures that the dog/puppy was check before a e.g. week ago and is healthy to travel. If it is up to 8 kilos you don't pay anything extra.
If you need any more help, inform me....
