hey guys,
i posted on this board maybe 3 months ago or so regarding my lonely dobie who lives in the basement of our home due to my mother's asthma. ANYWAY, i just wanted to keep you up to date with things. like i mentioned before, i have exhausted all options of trying to move him but i am happy to say that i don't things are going so bad. does he still live alone? yes. but it seems that our time spent together is very good for him. while i know i am not living with him all the time, i have been making a big effort to come straight from work and walk and then play ball/catch with him AND thankfully, my mom has agreed to let him in the laundry area of upstairs where i'll just sit with him while the family is right ther ein the kitchen. just so he can be a part of the fam. also, on the weekends i have made it a point to take hm with me to the carwash or even just to run a quick errand or go into the petstore--just to get him out there and he really seems to love it.
so basically, i just wanna know if this is okay. i always get this guilty feeling that it isnt enough, but he seems pretty content.i know i cant change things but im doing what i can.

anyway, drop me a line if you have some time and i welcome your 2 cents. if you arent familair on the topic i have the original posting back in september i believe,

thanx!

I remember your story. You are doing what you can. Please try not to torture yourself. It seems there are no other options for you right now. We are only human, after all.

Of course I remember. Just remember to try to be constant in what you are doing. Dogs have these internal alarm clocks and they know when or what time it is when you usually get there to take them out. He has something to look forward to at least. And he probably loves just being able to be in the same room with his family. I know you love this dog. Do whatever you can for him, he will love you for it.

I"m so glad you updated us because I read the original story and it really touched my heart-- I have thought about you and the dog a lot and was hoping all worked out since you hadn't posted in awhile. I'm really glad he can be in the laundry room- I think that makes a big difference. I'm sure he is SO glad you are making time for him- I know you mentioned you had recently graduated college? Well, if and/or when you move out on your own please consider taking him with you

is there any way you could get him a play mate even if it is not a new family pet but maybe a neighbor or a friend has a dog that likes other dogs and you could set up times when they could be together if he is lonely this should do the trick i have helped a friend out with this problem before and it worked wonders!

True! I don't think you should necessary get another dog, but can you set up playdates with other peoples' dogs? Or is there a neighbor or can you hire a dog walker to interact with him some more when you can't be there?
