Hi,
ok, so this afternoon I had an hour or so play with Floob where we play with his ball, hide things and make him 'wait' 'go find it' n tuggy, that kinda thing. Then, I put a few treats in a box and tape it up so he can have 10 minutes with it whilst I get on with a few jobs. He's always had boxes as he doesn't eat the cardboard and really enjoys tearing them to peices...
so after he's finished with it I start crawling around the floor collecting it all up when I flicked a piece... he went mad chasing it, so I carried on flicking them all over the room and he was jumping to catch them, jumping into the wall, going loopy to get at them.
Now it's time for his walk so we go out for an hour. Normally when we get home he'll have a chew and sleep for a while, but not today.
He's going absolutly bonkers. He doesn't bark much, and only for seconds usually, but he's barking every few minutes, and growling. He's looking all around the floor asif he's still seeing the flying bits of cardboard.
I've hoooverd and put all his toys away so there's nothing to look at, but he's still doing it.
Even when he starts to fall asleep he opens his eyes and runs around barking.
What have I done?!
I'm playing it down now with quite 'no's' but he looks scared almost
I've distrated him with a toy and whilst we're playing he's ok, but as soon as he's laying quietly he's off doing his looking everywhere again.
I can see I'm not gonna get much sleep tonight.

LOL! I'm sorry Nik, but thats funny. It sounds to me like you found a game that he really really likes!
Last night I showed a picture on my computer to Witt, he likes it when I do this and he actually looks, my husband always says I am full of it that he isn't really looking at the screen, he is just looking at my finger thats pointing to the screen. Well last night when I showed it to him, he cocked his head to the side and looked at it carefully and then barked, he jumped off my lap ran around the room and came back to the screen barking like a WILD MAN, he then started pushing at the screen with his nose darting in and out. Today he keeps checking the screen and a couple times he has barked like he is frustrated.

Here is the picture...

lmao, I'm not surprised he's acting like a wild man... it's making me laugh so hard.

Floobs recognised a picture on my screen before too. It was of his favourite toy I bought him for christmas, he wasn't even near the screen but laying on the floor behind me when I had it on. He stood up n barked at it, amazed me at the time.

I guess he does really like that game... but it's now been 6 hours of him being a total friut loop so we won't be playing it again.

Floob is possessed! we always give Jake boxes to play with and he loves ripping them apart - except now for the ones we dont. so he thinks all boxes are his. and water bottles. he loves water bottles and we have to be careful I haveleft full water water on the coffee table and takes them because he thinks ther are his making a complete mess.

Floob is just having some fun and wants more LOL

OOOOO honeybear..Witt too, he loves 2 litre bottles, he once got a hold of a full un-opened one that I had just gotten at the grocery store, in the time it took me to go back out to the truck and get the rest of the groceries he had managed a Mt. Dew flood in my kitchen...and imagine his pleasure at lapping up the surprise that came out of his toy! You wanna see a dog become a fruit loop...give them Mt. Dew!!!

lol, you guys! It's almost 11.30pm here, I think the neighbours have heard enough from him to last them a week!

H'e finally nodded off, he knows once I sit at the pc he's on his own for a bit so for now all is calm... phew.

I couldn't resist Maisy, I had to carry on looking at the rest of the pics in that link you posted. I nearly peed my pants laughing at some of them lol.

Thanks

Woooo, Floob LOVES the 2 ltrs too, I've started putting a biscuit in it, keeps him going for hours some days.

We don't get Mountain Dew here ... but he's loopy enough lol

You guys are cracking me up! I was wanting to buy a laser light for Nala, but I was afraid of the "fruit loop" syndrome. Perhaps it would be best to NOT get one!

I like the biscuit in a 2-liter bottle idea. But Nala would eat the bottle and I try to avoid her eating plastic. She does eat cardboard boxes, but I figure it is good fiber...

I just got her this toy: http://www.sitstay.com/cgi-bin/sdisp.cgi/TYP56.lg.jpg

I made it easy and she got all the treats out quickly. I will have to make it more challenging for her next time.

Hi Nik
My dog went a bit nutty for a while after he saw some mice in the house (as most dogs would) but for ages after we got rid of them he was still nutty and the slightest movement of something that doesn't even remotely look like a mouse and he was off in mouse hunting mode- I think they start seeing things they want to see it so much!
That pic is bizarre Maisy! Bender watches tv all the time- especially when there are dogs on- even cartoon dogs when they are not making any noise! This one day there was an ad for a racing car day and the cars were zooming past and the sound was going from left to right speaker and he sat there mesmorized and cocking his head from side to side with the sound going from speaker to speaker, pretty funny their reactions to certain things

That was wonderful! I'm still laughing!!!
You know what else is fun, put some pennies in a plastic bottle (with the lid very tight) Freebie and Casey just love it! I do watch them though, I don't want them getting those pennies. When I first got freebie, I hadn't bought him his own dish yet so I used plastic tupperware bowls. He loves to play with them! he'll throw them up in the air, and push them around for an hour with his nose. It's too cute! but again I have to watch him, because he would eat it if givin half a chance. I just love these stories!! keep em comin!!!

Nik, has he calmed down yet?

Susan

I'm glad I posted this now, took people's minds off tough times for a bit I guess

He's back to normal this morning... and because of that I'm tempted to start flicking the cardboard again, but I'm resisting.

Knobbles - sounds exactly like what Floob was doing, thankfully it was only cardboard n not mice tho!

Jamiya - do you have the name for that toy? It looks awsome so I wanna get one for Floob. He has a 'normal' Kong but only when I'm leaving him so I wanna keep that just for then, he knows what it means so I'm gonna stick to it for the time being. I'm running out of ideas for what to fill with treats now tho, so I think he'd love that toy.

Here is a link to the toy section of sitstay.com: http://www.sitstay.com/store/toys/index.shtml

The toy I got is under "treat dispensers & board games" (why they have a category like that, I don't know), and it is called the "Busy Buddy".

Nala was flipping it around the kitchen with her nose this morning and eating the treats that fell out. I will have to use peanut butter next time and make it even more challenging.

She also found a cat toy - a little plastic cylinder with a bell inside. She was rolling it around with her nose, and then picking it up and tossing it and chasing it. I was so glad to see her play like her old self again! Of course, then I had to take it away when she decided to settle down and chomp on it. Cat toys just can't stand up to a doggie. Maybe I should find her a dog toy with a bell in it.

Ranger does the same thing, Jamiya! When he was smaller, we let him play with them, as he couldn't bite them hard enough to break yet, but now they have to be hidden, so the cat is stuck playing with Ranger's 'no-bell' (no pun intended!) tennis balls!

This toy on the PetCo site looks interesting: http://www.petco.com/product_info.asp?familyid=11926&sku=7186400103&tab=1&dept_id=301&c1=290&c2=301&c3=&ct1=Toys&ct2=Treat+Dispensing&ct3=#

I haven't seen it in the stores, though. Maybe it is new. And Nala might rip the fabric loops off and eat them.

Since she has been in different rooms while we figure out what to do with the other dog, she found her bag of "broken" toys this morning. I had to hide it again. It contains all the plush toys she has ripped apart. No more plush in our house...

PetCO has this one, too: http://www.petco.com/product_info.asp?familyid=7389&sku=1821481003&tab=1&dept_id=301&c1=290&c2=301&c3=&ct1=Toys&ct2=Treat+Dispensing&ct3=

I actually saw this one in the store and thought it was interesting: http://www.petco.com/product_info.asp?familyid=9393&sku=1731400067&tab=1&dept_id=301&c1=290&c2=301&c3=&ct1=Toys&ct2=Treat+Dispensing&ct3=

I'm sorry yall, but thats just too funny!!! I remember when I showed smokey himself in the mirror....he went nuts!! He went around and around the mirror (stand up long oval kind) and just couldn't figure out where the other dog was!! I couldn't help but laugh, I've since had to put the mirror in the closet, he drives us nuts with it!!!

Sounds like your dog likes that game, and has made it up in his mind to play now!

ooh, I gave Luna an empty Gatorade bottle to play with and she really liked it. She kept unscrewing the cap so I kept screwing it back on. I never thought to put treats in it. What a great idea. I have a treat kong but the treats I have for her at the moment come out too easily so she is only distracted for a minute or two.

Heh, I looked through all those pics too. They forgot this one:

This picture cracked me up! You should enter that in a photo contest on this site....
http://members.aol.com/iluvpwcs/contest.html

They have a new contest every week, and if you win, the photo is used for an online postcard. I have enetered pictures of both my boys but they haven't won. I always thought they needed some funny postcards in their gallery.
