Hiya guys i have a slight problem with mitzy she is not eating her food she will eat ham and chicken but not her own food. I know that she may be pregnant but should she be going of her food so soon my other dogs still ate like horses any one have any ideas. mike IP: Logged |

Maybe it's the stress of the pregnancy and the new dog, all at once?

She is scared. The kids are off school today (snow) but I still had to go to work. I was afraid the new guy would go nuts in his crate knowing other people were home, so he is out and Nala is crated in the bedroom. I am trying to find someone to take him, but not having much luck yet.

You must be going out of you mind knowing that nala is scared and upset. Once you get him another home will nala go back to her normal self or will it take her some time to adjust again..mike IP: Logged |

I think she will be okay in a few days if we don't let him near her again. She looked like her old bouncy self outside this morning. I really wouldn't mind if she decided to give up chasing cats for good, though. At least something good would come of this experience! My sister is passing word around to her friends as well. One of her friends would love to take him, but she has two male dogs already. Is it possible that he has a thing against FEMALE dogs? He played all the time at the shelter with Zippy, a male Golden/Lab mix. He was neutered as a pup. He did mount Nala a lot when they were playing "nice" together and the shelter people said they hadn't seen him do that before. Guess it should have been a red flag, but they said it was nothing to be concerned about. How are Mitzy and Toby doing?

Mike your other post said Mitzy does not liek todby, could it be her routine is messed up the the new dog and upsetting her so she is not eating? honeybear IP: Logged |

hi honeybear mitzy is what you would say stuck in her ways and when she gets upset she really gets upset. i have decided that i am going to take toby back or find him a new home as the stress is just not fair on mitzy especially if she is pregnant. I have never seen this side of her before she is very agressive towards him. I have her eating chicken at the moment and she is still drinking so thats a bonus. I have even tried showing her that he is harmless but as soon as he comes near me thats it she in his face growling and then she pounces. mike IP: Logged |

Gosh I'm sorry for mike and Jamiya that your new pets arn't working out that is very sad. But both of you are right it's not fair to the dogs you have already. Hope everything works out for both of you IP: Logged |

Oh Mike I'm so sorry to hear that! I can't believe this has happened twice, first to Jamiya now you. Man what a let down! first you two were so excited and it turns into a nightmare for you guys. I wish there was something I could do for you both. But like I said to her, Mitzy came first, her well being is what is important, not to mention she might hurt the little guy, and he doesn't deserve that either. I'm so sorry! I understand Mike and Jimiya, you have to do whats right for your current family (pets included). SOme people would say it just takes time, but then you could be putting your pets and people in jeopardy. Mike there was a post here awhile back on the same thing. The new dog did nothing to provoke, just wanted love an attention but the original dog felt threatened and would growl and such and nothing they did would help or change things and they felt it could get out ofhand so they found the new dog another home. good luck honeybear IP: Logged |

Thanks all you guys you have all been great to me and jamiya through this heartbreaking time. Its just strange how one minute pets get along then all of a sudden they snap for no reason. I agree jamiya it is heartbreaking think the dogs we got are just meant to be with a family with no other pets. mike IP: Logged |

Hi, wow, this is horrible what you two are going through (Mike & Jamiya)  I know I say all the time now that things really do need time to work, but when it's as serious as lives involved maybe one or 2 'incidents' is enough to say times up.
