okay, I have a beautiful Rottweiler, very smart, sweet with kids, and is very funny too. I've heard that it's a law to have your dog registered, but I don't know how to go about doing that. When I look up how to register the dog it asks the Sire and Dam's registration number, but I believe that the parent's are NOT registered. So, how in the world am I supposed to register MY dog. HELP!!!!! IP: Logged |

Hello i beleive that you mean registar with what ever county you live in I live in Contra Costa County in California and when my dogs get their Rabies shot's they give me a certificate and application and i fill it out and send it to the county. The kind of registaration you are findnig is for things like AKC if your dog is a purebread and has a peidgree. My rottweiler is very sweet also how old is yours? Nala is 6.5 Hope that helps Rene IP: Logged |

My Rottweiler is about 7 months old. The guy that sold it to us, is a friend of my step-dad, and he said both of his dogs are full Rottweiler, but I don't think they are Registered under the AKC, so does that mean I am out of luck? I am supposed to get his Rabies shot in 2 weeks, so maybe then, I will get the registar papers. Thanks! IP: Logged |

YEa...you should just need the rabies shot. The state doesnt care whether or not the dog is registered with a kennel club..just as long as you pay them a fee so they can keep track of your dog =P We had people bust us in california for not having licenses for our pomeranians...charged us fees and made us go register them. I didnt know they came door to door! IP: Logged |

Hi! My shi tzu has papers on him, but it realy doesn't matter he's fixed. It is kind of neat to see the back ground and how far back it goes though. I think the only reason you would want papers is if you plan to breed or show your dog, other than that, who cares! right! My dogs are my family, and I couldn't care less where they came from. Bloodline! you would think they have mine...heheheh!!!just kidding! have a great day! Susan IP: Logged |

Just to clarify again. There are two kinds of "registration". One is where you register a purebred dog with a kennel club, such as the AKC. To do this, both parents need to be registered and the breeder would give you the puppy's papers. This is for showing and breeding, etc. The other type, which ALL dogs must do, is to be registered and licensed through your city or county. If your city or county has a website, you can probably find info on animal licensing that way. Otherwise, call your city hall and ask. In general, you need a rabies certificate and there is usually a small fee and a tiny form to fill out. Then they give you a tag to put on the dog's collar. Hope this helps!

Yikes! For a spayed or neutered cat or dog, it is $6 if you register before June 1. Any animal over 2 cats or 2 dogs costs extra - you have to get some sort of special permit for something like $100 or so.

Are you sure that's just registering them with the county Rene, or are you refering to AKC registering? I can't believe it would be that expensive-- No one would register their dogs then! I think it is around 10.00 here, I admit I have been neglectfull in not getting Cameron registered yet- but in MI you don't have to do it until 6 months, and then I figured I might as well wait until 2004....I need to do it soon I know! that fee is for the county i can't remember how much it was for the AKC but i'm sure it was not more then 50.00 each because i wanted their family tree and stuff also. Only the yorkies have a pedigree Nala is a purberad but doesn't have papers. Next month it's time to get Jasmine's Rabies shot again so i will have to reg. with the county again and i will post the correct amount but i'm pretty sure it's that much. IP: Logged |

I don't license my cats. Technically I am supposed to, but since they never set foot outside the house, who would know? I might as well for $6 each, now that I think about it. I guess I am just lazy!

Here the registration is with the city and it is $40 for a year I think. But it is half that if they are spayed or neutered. You're supposed to register them at 3 months but I'm holding off until Luna is spayed so I can get the cheaper price! IP: Logged |
