I have never owned a dog with a long coat. What sort of brush should I use to brush....umm, new aussie doggie guy (I *so* need to name him)? And what do I use to groom his ears? The same brush? His coat is all messed up on his lower back. I think they had to cut mats out of him (which is awful since he came from a home and not the streets). I hope it grows back in soon!

When we had our aussie, Kopon (named after her dad, Kompon, french for companion), we just used a large rectangular brush with wire bristles. She didn't get brushed much, as for some reason she never really needed it. We also got her shaved every summer, since we live in Texas, and they have really thick coats. The brush just needs to be kind've large! IP: Logged |

Oops! I forgot to say earlier, I believe you can use the same brush, just not as hard (obviously!). IP: Logged |

I have spent some money on dog brushes! What do I prefer?...A brush I got at the Dollar tree for a buck! I like to use the human brush on Dooley and I got another one that is for men..it's the old fashioned kind that fits in a mans palm, for Witt cause he has a single coat and it's smooth to his body. They both love being brushed, they roll all over the floor begging for more. IP: Logged |
