I just wondered if anyone else has ever experienced this-- Some days when we get home from work we will play with Cameron outside (if weather permits) and take her for a walk, etc., and after all this when it's "settle down" she will just lay around with us and play with her toys.

Other days, though, she will be nonstop full of energy from the time we get home until 10 at night, and even then she is not quite ready for bed!

Is it common for dogs to have different energy levels on different days? I know it's different during the weekend than the week, because she has all day to be with us and naps less so she is more laid back, but during the week everything is relatively the same everyday- she usually gets the same time home alone, the same amount of exercise, gets fed at the same time, etc., so it's strange that her energy level could change from day to day. It usually goes in 2-3 day stretches of her being exceptionally energetic or more laid back.

Is this weird- or are dogs just like us in that they change from day to day? Just curious.

Nala varies from day to day as well. Sometimes it sort of builds up - like if she hasn't been to the park in a few days she will start to get stir crazy. But other times there seems to be no real correlation.

Oh lordy, I wish Charllotte would have "down" days. She's hyper all the time.. Smokey has his moods. SOmetimes he wants to play and the next day, he wants nothing to do with anyone, other than his rawhide bone...

its wierd...they're almost human like....hmmmm

I can't say that my guys have very many "down" days either, but they have really really explosive days and normal days which are just a little less explosive lol. Last night Witt was ripping through the house everytime somebody moved or got up, he wouold just haul a** through the house like a race track, butt tucked and scrambling over he kitchen floor into my bedroom with a big jump on the bed and then back to the family room where he would jump on Shawn. I took him to the barn with me and then to the park and we did the laser pen..I kinda lunged him with it. When he seemed exhausted I brought him home where he promtly jumped on Shawns lap and went into a licking frenzy. Some days he is just tough to turn down...and it doesn't help that Shawn allows him to do things like jump and lick on him.
When he is really calm I actually worry he might be sick...thats how rare that is!

I know what you mean... some days I wonder what has got into my dog and why he is so crazy! Other days he will be really mellow... I told my partner maybe it's the full moon- but he thinks that's silly! I believe our dogs do have moods like people, but unlike people dogs are usually happy and easy to please!!

How funny! Freebie is ADHD on some days, and Casey "WELL" she's a snob! I love her personality, she reminds me of a cat sometimes. If she want's something real bad! like to play catch or a treat, Once in awhile i'll ask her for a kiss first, and she gives me a look like "I guess if you have too" then she'll turn her little head up towards me. I'ts the cutest thing you've ever seen! My husband calls her the Princess B**** She's not too hyper, but I have Freebie to make up for that.
