I'm so excited!! I found a pure bred heeler!!! She's 10 wks old, out of good working stock. The guy said he thought she was the second best in the litter, and is the one with the most vigor! I'm going to Victoria this Saturday to look at her. I'm hoping she'll be my show dog! I'm sooo excited!!!! EEEKKK!! I can wait!!! Yall are going to have to help me with a snazzy name for her.... LALALALA I am not listening (ears...err eyes covered)! Between you all getting new dogs(and a horse sams!) and all the litters of puppies being shown on the Catahoula boards I am getting weak. Good Luck sams, I hope the pup is what you have been looking for. IP: Logged |

OH man, I'm excited. I will be posting pics. Charllotte is the one I'm concerned about though. She HATES other femals. I'm talking will fight with them. Around other males she's fine, I think she feels threatend by them. BUt she has gotten along with another red heeler X before. But Smokey wasn't around. She growled and jumped on her a few times, and then they were buddies. HUH? I wonder if she's being selfish around Smokey??? Its gonna take some socializing...Hopefully since the puppy is young she'll adapt to it and not feel threatned, she's had pups so maybe she'll be nice/?? I don't know. I'm taking them with me if the weather permits.... IP: Logged |

Somebody once told me to rub....something (can't recall)...on both dogs so they have the same smell. Does anyone know what the heck I am talking about (since I obviously don't) and provide more info?

LOL, Maisey. Go ahead....get another dog! Listen to how evil *I* am. I am trying to get in touch with the foster mommy of the Golden in rescue. I want to meet him after all. I panicked this morning and couldn't stand the thought of losing him if my aussie turns out to be dangerous to my cats. So, I told my husband that if he is a better match then I will foster the aussie and get him placed through the rescue people so he doesn't have to go back to the shelter. So we may have three dogs, but just temporarily. And then I thought about what I told Susan to do with the extra pup that came back to her house - telling her husband she was looking for a home for it when she really wasn't....and it made me go "Hmmmm." So evil! I don't think I could handle three dogs, though. So I will work with my new guy and see how his personality develops in our home. I want what is best for him, so if he truly seems like he is an "only dog" or "no cat" kind of guy, I will talk to the rescue people. Let's all hope it doesn't come to that!

Yes! Pray it doesn't come to that! Aussies are great dogs! You know, I just thought of something, his growling could be part of a herding instinct. He may be using it to kind've herd the cats, and get them to listen to him, though I am not sure. IP: Logged |

OH its tommorow!!! I"m soooo antsy its not even funny!! I keep telling the kids (dogs) that they are getting a new friend....of course smokey looks at me, cocks his head to the side and continues chewing his bone as if to say, "yeah ok...." Charllotte on the other hand runs like wild all over the place, comes back and I tell her really happy voice again, "new friend" and she runns and hauls butt everywhere, turns circles...and acts just plain stupid... More than likely, she thinks I"m praising her and playing. I doubt she understands what I'm saying, but I like to think she does. IP: Logged |

Yeah samsintentions! I am so excited for you! I hope that Charolette accepts her, keep trying to get her excited about it, then maybe she will never think about not liking the puppy IP: Logged |
