I was giving my dog, Indy, a shower just a few moments ago and I noticed a funny lump on the back of her leg.
The lump is about the size of a pencil eraser, and has a ruff bumpy top (like a wart), it looks reddish in color, and may have had a scab on top because it looks to have discolored from the water (when you soak off a scab). Indy is licking it, but it doesn’t seem to be much of a bother to her.
We were just at the vet last week, and there was no sign of a lump, and Indy is in good health. Could it be an injury? She plays rough with our other dog, and is a bit clumsy. Do dogs get warts? She is not even 2 years old yet.

Hi halokittie, I would just keep an eye on it, if it changes colors or shape I would have the vet take a look. It could just be a cyst (spelling) or something like that, that's pretty common. I've never heard of dogs getting warts, but that doesn't mean they can't, I've just never heard of it.

And Wellcome to the forum! Good luck! and keep us posted.

Sincerely, Susan

Sorry Halokittie, I didn't notice you were already a member. I'm sure you'll get more advise as well.

Hi, Thank you for the advice.
I remember my childhood dog having tumors when she got old.
I’m scared to death that it may be some sort of cancer, but she is still very young.
I thought it may be a cyst, but it seems hard, and does not look to be draining.
My husband also told me just to keep an eye on it; I’ll give her 1-week before a trip to the vet.
