I hope I'm doing this in the correct place. Is there a medication that a highly allergic dog can take to protect them from the fatal effects of a bee sting. thank you IP: Logged |

Hi Candy, and wellcome to the forum! I would ask the vet! if it's that serious, I would take the dog in. I don't know myself what you would give a dog that is highly allergic to bee stings, but maybe someone here can help. Good luck and hope you get what you need. Susan IP: Logged |

Thanks for your note Susan. Yeah, I'm new to this message board and don't know the ropes yet. Anyway, the dog's not mine. It's a black lab that belongs to someone else and I told them I'd see what I came up with on this site. She apparently watched the dog get stung, shake it off, take a few wobbly steps and keel over. She carried the dog to the vet who administered whatever it is they do for that sorta thing, and said there wasn't any preventative medicine for this kind of thing. I say sheep dip!! So I'm here to see what I can come up with. Thanks IP: Logged |

There isn't any preventive medicine, but if her dog has serious reactions she should carry a epi pen. They give them to people and I would think animals. It is a shot of epineprhine that she can give the dog to give her enough time to get it to the vet. Reactions get worse over time and really serious ones can kill a person or an animal in 2-4 minutes. She should ask her vet about an epi pen. IP: Logged |
